FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to common questions about Dukeson’s precision tiles, installation, and maintenance.

Why is consistent tile thickness important?

Consistent tile thickness ensures an even surface, reducing the risk of lippage. Dukeson tiles are manufactured with high precision, maintaining an accuracy of 0.1mm, so when we specify 8mm or 10mm, you can trust that the thickness is consistent.

Lippage occurs when adjacent tiles have a height difference. Common causes include:

  • Variations in tile thickness
  • Uneven substrate (the surface the tiles are laid on)
  • Improper installation techniques

To minimize lippage, follow these steps:

  • Use tiles with precise thickness (such as Dukeson’s 0.1mm accuracy tiles).
  • Ensure the substrate is level before installation.
  • Use the correct installation techniques, including proper adhesive and spacing.

Excessive lippage can cause:

  • Chipped tile edges, reducing the tile’s durability.
  • Snagged furniture and appliances, making it harder to place items evenly.
  • Safety hazards, such as tripping accidents.

Dukeson uses advanced manufacturing technology to maintain a thickness accuracy of 0.1mm, ensuring all tiles are consistent in size and reducing the chances of lippage.
